How to Write a 5-Paragraph Essay

When you’re writing an essay, all you have to remember is that it needs to have an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. Thus, if it’s a five-paragraph essay, you have to think of it this way: first paragraph as the introduction; second, third, and fourth paragraph as the body; and, fifth paragraph as the conclusion. It’s actually not that difficult as you think. Here are some tips from writemyessay.ca, which might help you compose an essay with five paragraphs.

  • First Paragraph: Introduction

The first paragraph should introduce the topic to your reader. In fact, it is considered as the most important part of the essay for it is what will make your readers want to read more. Additionally, it also sets the tone and direction of your whole paper.

Your introduction needs to be striking. It has to catch your readers’ attention and interest. It also has to be substantial. You must write your main idea and thesis statement therein. Make it informative and list the arguments that you will be providing in your body. Since the body will consists of three parts, try to write three arguments as well. Do not explain them yet. One or two sentences will do.

  • Second, Third, and Fourth Paragraph: Body

These three paragraphs will now contain your explanation of the arguments that must be relative to your thesis statement. In here, you can provide details about your topics. You can include general knowledge, facts, examples or illustrations, or appropriate research studies.

State the argument first, and then you can start explaining it based on your own understanding. Explain why you think the argument is true. If you think otherwise, you have to make your statements strong. Lastly, present some evidence such as examples and research data to support your explanation.

You just have to do these with the three paragraphs, but don’t forget that you have to relate the succeeding paragraph to the preceding one.

  • Fifth Paragraph: Conclusion

Your conclusion, as the last paragraph, should be able to summarize the main points of your essay. The reader needs to find the connection between your thesis statement and your arguments. You do not have to include any additional information. Summarizations and relations are to be established in the conclusion. Most importantly, your last sentence should be a very strong statement indicating your view on the topic you wrote about.

It would be easier to write a five-body paragraph if you follow these guidelines. That way, you won’t have to stress yourself anymore about what to write and where to start.
